🌀 Meet the Chaos: Behind the Title

What do you think of when you hear the word chaos?

When you Google it, you’ll find it compared to confusion and disarray. It’s defined as a “total lack of organization or order.”

There’s a Greek force known as Chaos from which the universe arose. There’s even a scientific chaos theory.

In my mind, chaos is all this and more.

🌑The Story Began Without a Title

My book began without a title—only a vision. That vision was trauma, toxic relationships, hidden agendas, and growth.

Laila was chaos.

It wasn’t just something she experienced or saw; it was her very being. It was her darkness giving way to the light, and her struggle to understand her own emotions.

Aeryn’s chaos manifested in the opposite direction. His journey led him from light into darkness—raising questions of justice vs. revenge and proving his worth at whatever cost. He pushed away his friends and loved ones only to embrace a darker obsession. He questioned everything and everyone, never trusting the motives of those around him.

Laila and Aeryn both experience traumas they must work through together.

But all that chaos was brought on by Laila and her world. Her very presence gives way to chaos in ways that neither of them can comprehend… yet.

It seemed fitting that the first book in this series begins with chaos, so our characters can eventually follow the path toward Balance, Harmony, and more.

📚The Chaos Chronicles: Finding the Right Name

I toyed more with the series’ name: The Chaos Chronicles.

My initial thought was The Chaotic Love Chronicles—because the idea of chaotic love stuck in my mind for the first book. Instability, drama, the lack of healthy communication.

To me, that was Laila and Aeryn to a T.

She made him lose his mind in small, seemingly insignificant ways to get what she needed—and she felt bad about it.

He bounced back and forth between trusting her and keeping her at arm’s length.

🌪️Chaos Beyond the Romance

But then I realized the chaos wasn’t just within their love, or hate, or distrust—or whatever it was they felt for each other.

It was all around them.

It lived within the League of Hunters—known as the Ziyad—where a vacuum of power stirred chaos behind the scenes.

It showed in Niq, King Aeryn’s friend and captain of his guard, who tried to project his own feelings and concerns onto Aeryn, assuming his opinion would carry unquestioned weight.

It was in the world itself, where a neighboring country was emerging from reclusion and beginning to stir up trouble.

The secrets and lies were building blocks for the chaos that Laila and Aeryn would have to navigate.

These themes continue throughout the series, introducing more characters who embody different aspects of chaos in a world that strives for balance.

✨So What Does Chaos Mean to You?

I think of life. The choices one has to make versus the ones made around us.

I think of the unknown and the unexpected—how personalities mix like oil and water… or like a cake.
